The management of the City of Bremerton's drainage system is one of the many responsibilities of the City to provide for the public's health, safety and welfare.
This responsibility includes the protection and preservation of the natural resources of the area that play such a large role in sustaining the City's quality of life. Within the City, the responsibility for storm and surface water management and the protection of groundwater have been entrusted to the Department of Public Works and Utilities.
It is the mission of the Stormwater Program within the Department to control flooding, enhance water quality, protect sensitive habitat areas, and optimize the recharge of local aquifers.
